Sophie and Mark met in 2020 in a design class at Portland State. What started as collaboration became conversation, then coffee, then everything.

Mark designs code.

Sophie designs spaces.

Together, they design a life.

In the summer of 2024, Mark brought Sophie back to the bench where they first talked. Instead of a ring box, he had a drawing: a home, designed together, light-filled, minimal, ours.

She said yes before he finished speaking.

Location: Secret Garden at Hoyt Arboretum 4000 SW Fairview Boulevard Portland, Oregon 97221

The Space :Ancient oak trees, botanical gardens, golden light. Ours favorite place in Portland. We've hiked here for years.

No formal dress code. Come as yourself. We want you comfortable and happy. Sophie chose garden chic. Mark's wearing linen. You should too.

HOW THE DAY UNFOLDS

3:00 PM

THE MOMENT

PRACTICAL STUFF

PARKING & GETTING THERE

Parking is free at the Arboretum. Main lot is 5 min walk to ceremony. Overflow lot is 10 min walk. From Portland city center: 20 min drive No traffic: 15 min drive Friday afternoon: Plan for 30 min We have shuttle service from parking to ceremony (every 5 min). No walking if you don't want to.

WHAT TO BRING

Garden attire (we're outdoors) Comfortable shoes (you'll be standing, then dancing) Sunscreen (it's June in Portland, could be sunny) A light jacket (evenings can cool down) Ceremony: Bring nothing. Phones okay after vows. Bonfire: Bring your appetite (s'mores!) We'll have umbrellas if it rains. (It might. It's Portland.)

ACCOMMODATION

Portland has amazing hotels. We recommend staying the night—the drive back is long. Close by (Luxury) The Woodlark Inn — 10 min away Central Portland (Mid-range) The Nines — 20 min away Budget-friendly Hostels & Airbnbs are scattered around—check Google Need a crash pad? DM Sophie. Some friends offered their guest rooms.
